As a part of our marketing efforts through Cameras For Girls, we have been interviewing notable journalists, photojournalists and even photographers from various genres who reside in Uganda. We hope that this series of interviews will show the girls in the program learning how to use a camera to achieve their career goals that anything is possible as long as you put in the work.
This blog is about Daniel Semwogerere, otherwise known as Daniel Moxie, on social media. Daniel is only 26 years old and has only been shooting professionally for three years, but his images speak of years of experience. Like many others, Daniel was inspired to take up photography full-time after getting his hands on a camera and realizing the power he held in his hands.
Through mentorships with various photographers, Daniel found his voice and has been steadily carving out a niche for himself by focusing on people’s real-life moments. He especially enjoys capturing the pure, unreserved joy on someone’s face or that look of adoration between a couple on their special day. Daniel focuses on creating an experience, not just a pose. Besides working with his clients, he enjoys working with other creatives on conceptual art through photography.
Daniel and I met when I reached out to photographers in Uganda and needed volunteers for my Cameras For Girls Program; and he answered the call and has been there for us every step of the way, and I could not be more grateful.
